Integrity and Transparency

I was determined when I came to Council to ensure we upheld the highest standards possible through the behaviour in the Council Chamber. I am satisfied that we have shown good discipline to respect the separation between the role of elected Councillors and the proper role of appointed officers. Not all members of the community understand the importance of the legislative framework elected Councillors operate within and therefore sometimes expect us to interfere with due process. I’m proud we have maintained the integrity of good governance that our community can rely on.

Diversification for Resilience

Diversifying into a wider range of industry sectors that are compatible with our communities and environment will give us greater resilience. The current drought has taken its toll on our community however our economy still shows strength. One reason for this is that we have a number of industries that are immune to drought and provide a stable source of employment and revenue to the region.

Primary Production

Our region is home to leaders in innovation across many facets of Primary Production – leaders in agricultural technology, leaders in plant nutrition, leaders in beef genetics, leaders in equine and canine health support, leaders in land management and soil health to name just a few. However, there is a continued need to innovate and improve to maintain the future viability of primary production.
